Production schedule
Also known as: Production request

In one sentence
In ISA-95, a production schedule is a collection of production requests stating what to make, how much, when and with which resources.
Example
The ERP releases a production schedule with twelve orders for Monday; the MES sequences them on the two filling lines.
How it applies
- Planning: Business systems create production schedules from customer orders and forecasts; Level 3 refines them into detailed schedules.
- Operation: Operators work from dispatch lists derived from the schedule; changes must reach them quickly and unambiguously.
- Integration: Messages such as those defined in Business to Manufacturing Markup Language (B2MML) can carry schedules between systems.
- Documentation: Interface specifications define the fields and states of a production request. User documentation explains how schedules appear on the shop floor and how operators start, interrupt or complete orders.
Production schedule vs. production plan
In everyday use, a production plan is a longer-term, aggregated plan (monthly volumes). The ISA-95 production schedule consists of concrete requests. The German list term "Produktionsplan" can mean either; translators should check the context.
